Engineering tomorrow's leaders today

Meet the Principal

a message from our principal

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am humbled by the prestigious opportunity to serve as principal of Gateway Polytechnic Academy where we are “Engineering Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.” As your child’s principal, I look forward to the opportunity to provide the best possible education for all of our students.

This school year marks my sixteenth year in education. I have served as an administrator for the last six of those years, these two as the principal of GPA. I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University and my master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. Out of college, seeking a position as first grade teacher and not yet knowing that life throws curve balls, I accepted a job in Tempe, Arizona, as an eighth grade language arts teacher. After two years, I earned my secondary education certificate and began teaching at a neighboring high school to both teach English and coach. Most recently prior to joining Queen Creek, I served as assistant principal of educational services for Williams Field High School.

On a personal note, I landed in Arizona via Illinois. My mother was a dairy farmer before marrying my businessman father and settling in the Chicago suburbs. My three brothers and I spent much of our time in athletic arenas, eventually providing me the unique opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level for WMU — Go Broncos! I met my husband here in beautiful, sunny Arizona on a softball field, and we have made Arizona our home. We have three wonderful kids, two of whom are Aviators. I enjoy being active, reading non-fiction, and touring this amazing state.

I promise to work daily to lead here at GPA in providing a safe environment for all students to learn. I am committed to supporting challenging instruction for each child. I also am committed to listening to the community in reaching goals of fostering the success of Gateway Polytechnic Academy.
