Why GPA?

There are so many reasons you should make Gateway Polytechnic Academy your educational partner. From our highly-qualified faculty and staff to our dedicated PTO volunteers, GPA is committed to providing the best educational experience for your child.

A Stellar District

GPA joins seven other schools in the technology-rich Queen Creek Unified School District. Well-established in excellence, QCUSD is the perfect pillar for GPA to build a deeply-rooted foundation and launch its bright, prosperous future. Our district:

  • Exceeds state and national averages in standardized test scores.
  • Surpasses the state’s graduation rate with 92 percent of our students graduating.

With such a high success rate, our school is destined for academic achievement.

Our history

Here at Gateway Polytechnic Academy, we’re excited to witness history in the making each day on our burgeoning campus.

In November 2014, the citizens of Mesa, via voter-approved bond, granted Queen Creek Unified School District permission to build a new school along their northern boundary that would feature kindergarten through sixth grade classrooms.

Construction began on March 28, 2015, with a ground-breaking ceremony featuring prominent figures in both the Mesa and Queen Creek communities.

Our new and modern 89,000 square foot facility is designed to accommodate 750 students and now includes seventh and eighth grades. GPA opened its doors July 22, 2015, and provides a well-rounded, dynamic learning environment.

we're growing

GPA opened in 2015, as a preschool through 6th grade school. In the following year, our 6th graders move into the 7th grade here and are now our 8th grade students. Due to our record setting growth, the governing board made a calculated and tough decision to move our middle school students to attend Queen Creek Middle School beginning the year of 2018-2019. GPA will then serve preschool - 5th grade students beginning in the fall of 2018.

Students are offered many extra-curricular options through our community education offerings throughout the year. Also, each grade level hosts formal tutoring sessions. Our teachers sponsor a variety of clubs including but not limited to: student council, yearbook, student leadership, captains, and lieutenants. Our district's Community Education program has many more programs offered.

Our Curriculum

QCUSD follows the Beyond Textbooks curriculum. Beyond Textbooks is mastery learning model of a scope and sequence of state standards. Teachers meet regularly to review data collected on student mastery each standard adjusting instruction on a weekly basis. All of these efforts are to guarantee our GPA students are prepared to move forward.

GPA uses many resources additional to our curriculum to meet the needs of the whole student and to meet the needs of each student. QCUSD is an AVID district. AVID is a program supporting best practices in: writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. GPA is one of QCUSD’s STEAM influenced elementary schools. Here at GPA, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) is recognized in our quarterly school-wide events and even in daily lesson plans. In the fall of 2018, GPA will also boast a Makerspace used by all our k-5 students to interact with the design process and stretch their creative skills. GPA incorporates character education and leadership development into our instruction.

tools for success

We pride ourselves in giving children the tools they need to excel in the classroom and in life. Beyond our first rate educational programs and great facilities, GPA’s computer lab and library serve as media hubs connecting our students to the most reliable resources and information in a supervised learning environment. Our gymnasium is a full regulation size court with stadium seating. And we have three science labs, one of which will host our new Makerspace in the fall of 2018.

Each classroom consists of a Smart Board, Proxima projector, and a document camera. Each classroom grades 2nd -8th also boast a one-to-one ratio of tablet to student.

Teachers utilize many tools to regularly support students interaction with technology including but not limited to: Moby Max, Extra Math, Code.org, Typing Club, Hooda Math, Kahoot, Khan Academy, and many more.
